Freedom of Movement unveiled her fist love, the CARLIFT. And not just anywhere, they did it in Europe’s most famous Centre of Fine Arts, BOZAR, BRXL. Former home base of chief designer, GertVrijens.
Freedom of Movement is a Start-up and a unique socio-economical experiment in one. Mass producing trendy and sexy aids for people with disabilities is no longer a utopia. We strive forintegration by means of design, stimulate reintegration by employment and provide reasonably priced cool.
On Tuesday 25th November 2009 Freedom of Movement proudly presented her first creation: a universal, easy to handle transfer lift that helps people with a disability getting in and out a car. The universal lift is an innovation with a mission. It is the first aid for people with a Disability that combines easy to handle, catchy design and reimbursement. On top of that they guaranty that their transfer lift will be produced according to the principles of durableness enterprising, within the social economy and produced by disabled people.
Today Belgium counts 150.000 wheelchair users and 550.000 seniors who for their transportation are depended of helping aids. Moreover their natural habitat is rudely disturbed by all kinds of helping aids who constantly remind them what they are. Just like all other consumer groups they just want to be able to use beautiful and efficient products that blend in harmony.
Affordable cool
Freedom of Movement provides her users with affordable and universal aids. The device looks cool and costs in all its enlightening functionalities three times less than the cheapest existing alternative. Because mobility aid in an attractive design doesn’t have to be high-priced. What’s more our boarding lift will be the first model that belongs to the drivers instead of the vehicle. It can be assembled on all type of roof racks and on all kinds of vehicles, without intervenes of an installer. Freedom of Movement’s transfer lift will be for sale from our premium resellers or with a simple mouse click, trough the internet.
Innovation with a mission
The people behind Freedom of Movement are creative brains with balls. They match their sense for experimenting and strive to functional design with a refreshing view upon social economy. This is not just another goodwill project but a new model that opens doors for a long-lasting, consistent chancefor change.
For her first project Freedom of Movement designed a unique production process that contributes to social reintegration and job creation for people with a disability. The Carlift will be produced in sheltered work places by people with a handicap. With the help of partners Freedom of Movement will be able to grow out to be a company where the employers, the users and the product are central.
